Today, the Centenary Celebration of Palghat Mani Iyer is being held at The Music Academy, Chennai. Palghat Mani Iyer’s phenomenal achievement and contribution to the “mridangam mind” and “mridangam sound” have influenced all master percussionists who have succeeded him. In this tribute published by The Hindu, Sriram Parasuram presents some wonderful facts about this legend, whose genius lingers on even today, thirty years after his time.

My parents belong to Palghat and therefore naturally I am attached to that place. When I hear of great people like Palghat Mani Iyer and all I get a special feeling for them. I adore music and thank God for attaching me to this great place.
