The highlight of Sopanam 2012 is an “instrumental fusion” by Veena maestro Rajesh Vaidya, who is the son of the Carnatic musician and mridangam artist, K M Vaidyanaathan. Rajesh Vaidya will be accompanied by Mohanraman (mridangam), Chaandrajith (tabla), N Subramanian (ghatam and special effects), Nivas K Prasanna (piano) and Thenkasi H Paramasivam (ganjira). The evening will also feature a “Chakiar Koothu” performance by Prof Kalamandalam Raman Chakkyar.
