Padma Vibhushan Pandit Jasraj is one of the most revered voices in Indian classical music today. The vocal tradition in Indian music has a rich, varied and popular history but Pandit Jasraj’s voice has garnered a huge global following as well. Initiated into music by father Pandit Motiram, he later trained under elder brother and guru Pandit Maniram and spiritual guru Maharaja Jaiwant Singh. His powerful voice easily traverses four and a half octaves and the ability to blend the classical with the lyrical, a quintessential feature of the Mewati gharana, is his trademark.
He will be performing for the November fest at The Music Academy on the 16th, 7:30PM onwards.
