It was a rare opportunity to hear two masters of Hindustani and Carnatic music performing together live at Bangalore Gayana Samaja on the sixth day (Friday) of its 45th music conference. Though it was for the first time that the veteran exponent of Hindustani violin Dr N Rajam and Carnatic violin maestro Dr Mysore M Manjunath were locked in a resonating Carnatic-Hindustani jugalbandi, the perfect and complete instrumentalists played as if they have always been together. The ragas were approached in a highly disciplined manner which explored their every manodharmic and instrumental nuance.
