With exquisite headgear and colourful costumes, students of Guru Pitambar Biswal delighted spectators with their Odissi performance during the 27th dance festival organised by Pollachi Tamizh Isai Sangam. Arpita Pani and Divyashri Panda began with the Mangalacharan and moved on to ‘Ganga Tarang,’ a lilting piece interwoven with jatis. ‘Raase, Harimiha’ (Jayadeva’s Ashtapadi) was laden with picturesque details and Divyashri enacted them with aesthetic abhinaya. Arpita embellished the Sankarabharanam pallavi with statuesque postures, inspired by the statues of Puri Jagannath temple.
