Sita and Draupadi, two women who lived in two very different eras, are about to come together in Jyotsna Shourie’s latest Bharatanatyam dance production “Face to Face”. Jyotsna, who also runs a dance centre in the capital, says that she was looking for a new thematic programme to do with her senior girls, and decided to depict the similarities between Sita and Draupadi. “Even though they lived in different eras, their lives and strengths were somewhat parallel. I wanted to make it woman-centric. Since these two texts of “Ramayana” and “Mahabharata” are very popular, it is easy to draw things from them, but the challenge for me was that what could I take which relates specifically to these women from the texts,” she says.
