Oli, a yearlong project (Feb 2012-Feb 2013), revives the tradition of intense participatory listening, the life-giving matrix of Indian classical music, with two chamber concerts every month. Oli affords a platform for diverse styles of music, rare kinds of music with great freedom for manodharma. These mic-less concerts retain the natural tonal quality of voice and instrument. The first two chamber concerts were by Sri T N Krishnan and Amritha Murali and were very well received.

The 3rd concert was hosted by Sarangi and was conducted in collaboration with Margazhi.org, on the 4th March 2012. The theme was ‘Manikkam Vairam’ and was presented by vocalist Sumitra Vasudev. She was accompanied by M Rajeev on the violin and K V Gopalakrishnan on the mridangam.

Bharathi, from the Oli team started with a beautiful invocation song and introduced the artists, while the concluding vote of thanks was given by Gowri Ramnarayan.

There is also a discussion thread on Rasikas.org. Please visit the site to read reviews and comments by some of those who attended the concert.
