It was a rare treat to get to watch the eminent Indian classical dancer Sonal Mansingh perform with her troupe in Kathmandu on August 11. Her performance awed and impressed as connoisseurs of the arts and dance gathered to watch one of India’s most distinguished dancers at the Nepal Army Officers’ Club’s Sabha Mandap Hall. President Ram Baran Yadav and the Indian ambassador to Nepal, Jayanta Prasad, were in the audience. Other noted individuals including Sushil Koirala, Hisila Yami, Arju Deuba and Ambar Gurung were also present. The one-and-a-half-hour programme was sheer delight, and Mansingh’s interaction with the crowd only added to the joy of the experience.
